Multi-person group blog: Start one

Multi-blogger sites, or why more than one cook could really improve the broth.

Take that, old hackneyed cliche #2,346,137.

Blogs featuring more than one writer are very common on the internet. Many of the leading blogs are written by more than one author.

Perhaps it's time to develop a few more blogs featuring several blog voices.

The most obvious advantage of more than one blog post writer is the sharing of the posting workload. Less time is taken from each blogger's own blog, business, career, hobby, or family.

The second major advantage of several bloggers joining forces is the powerful content that can be generated. With a group of talented and well informed people's thoughts and ideas found in one place, the quality factor can't help but be high.

Even if a contributor had an "off day" writing wise, the high level of the other postings would more than offset any less than stellar submissions. In sports, it's said that quality comes from quantity. In group blogs, that fact holds true as well.

Another advantage is each contibuting blogger would have links to the multiple writer blog, feeding visitor traffic into the multi-blog. The reverse flow of traffic, moving back to the contributing blogs helps them build their readership as well.

For each contributor, the opportunity to have your writing displayed to a potentially wider reading audience is a real and tangible bonus, with possible financial benefits.

The more people read your submissions to the group blog, the larger the visitor traffic to your own blog. As a result, more potential customers and clients for your goods and services will know you better.

A multiple writer blog could enhance your reputation on the internet in general, and throughout the blogosphere in particular.

To start a group blog, you need to have an overall theme. Choose a fairly wide ranging topic like public relations, marketing, or business management so you have many post possibilities. Of course, these are only some business examples. Any overall theme could be used.

Next, find a group of bloggers who you know, or at least feel comfortable with, in sharing ownership of a blog. Most of your future blog partners probably already reside on your blogroll or RSS feeds list.

Set up a blog, and along with your group, brainstorm some posting topics and ideas.

Get the first posts assigned, and schedule days when each blogger is expected to post their contribution. Set hard deadlines.

Set up the usual blogroll, RSS feeds, and submit to the various blog directories.

Market the group blog on each member's blog.

Hurrah! You have a group blog well on its way to stardom.

Well there you have it.

Think about starting a multi-person group blog today.

You could reach the big time, by contributing a share of your time.
