The Home Office From Hell Cure by Jeffrey Landers - Book review

The Home Office from Hell Cure

Transform Your Underperforming, Time-sucking Homebased Business into a Runaway Success

By: Jeffery A. Landers

Published: Apr 1, 2008
ISBN: 9781599181677
Format: Paperback, 235pp
Publisher: Entrepreneur Pr

You can transform your stalled, time wasting home based business into the successful company of your dreams, in just one hundred days, writes Jeffrey Landers in his practical handbook The Home Office from Hell Cure: Transform Your Underperforming, Time-sucking Homebased Business into a Runaway Success. Whether your goal is growth to an employee based company or to enjoy the lifestyle of working from home, the book provides a detailed blueprint for success.

Jeffrey Landers pulls no punches, regarding the many time losing and profit draining obstacles, that stand in the way of a successful home based business. With humour and real life examples, the author demonstrates that achieving the business you always wanted is possible. The book examines the entrepreneurial goals of businesses geared for growth and expansion through selecting the right out of home premises. At the same time, a business person wanting to maintain the flexibility of the home based lifestyle, is shown how virtual assistants can take over less profitable routine tasks.

Jeffrey Landers (photo left) recommends practical techniques that have proven
effective in the real world of business. He uses them in his own company. As a result, the reader gains the experience of the author's own successes and failures. After establishing the type of company the entrepreneur seeks to build, the Jeffrey Landers switches to building a reputation as an expert in the chosen niche market. The advice offered is effective for businesses of any size, and for entrepreneurs with very different goals and industries.

For me, the power of the book is in its practical approach to building a successful home based company. The structure of the book is a daily task based system that helps the business person take small steps toward the overall goal. The overall plan is to reach the target in one hundred days. Many of the steps are tiny and can be done in minutes.

Some of the other assignments are larger, more difficult, and require a real commitment on the part of the entrepreneur. This demand on the home based business owner, to act decisively, is a major part of the book's strength. No half hearted attempt will work, and that fact is recognized by the author. Personal responsibility is a requirement for business success.

I highly recommend The Home Office from Hell Cure: Transform Your Underperforming, Time-sucking Homebased Business into a Runaway Success by Jeffrey Landers to any home based entrepreneur who is serious about their business. Whether your goal is to become the next major corporation or to work from your pajamas at home, this book will steer you in the right direction.

Read The Home Office from Hell Cure: Transform Your Underperforming, Time-sucking Homebased Business into a Runaway Success by Jeffrey Landers and turn your home based business into the company of your dreams.

Riches In Niches by Susan Friedmann - Book review

Riches in Niches

How to Make It Big in a Small Market

By: Susan Friedmann

Published: May 1, 2007
ISBN: 9781564149305
Format: Hardcover, 256pp
Publisher: Career Pr Inc

Be the expert and you are on your way to wealth, writes Susan Friedmann in her powerful book Riches in Niches: How to Make It Big in a Small Market. The author provides seven steps to becoming a successful nichepreneur, by dominating an entire niche market through specialization.

For author Susan Friedmann, a successful nichepreneur herself, the key to riches is through narrowing market your focus. By achieving authority status in a specific niche market, the business or professional person eliminates any competition. Having a specialized market to oneself is the first step toward riches in niches. Being the only game in town for a market segment is only the starting point, however. The book describes the seven steps for developing that expert status and turning it into niche market domination.

Susan Friedmann (photo left) shares her proven success secrets in easy to follow detail. Unlike many business how to books, this one provides the crucial nuts and bolts detail necessary for building your successful niche business. She explains why the seeming contradiction between domination of small market niches as an expert, versus becoming just another commodity in large highly competitive fields, works to your business advantage.

Instead of repeating shop worn platitudes and homilies, the author provides the hands on insider techniques that are vital to to becoming the recognized expert in your chosen niche. In fact, all seven steps lead to the essential goal of domination of that market segment. The result is being the trusted expert for everyone from potential customers and clients, to business referrals from colleagues, to high level media interviews, for your specific niche market.

For me, the power of the book is its detailed step by step approach to building a niche market business. Every chapter is a veritable cornucopia of ideas and information for becoming the expert and leveraging that status into paying business. Every essential area of marketing and promotion is covered in detail. The aspiring nichepreneur is not left guessing as to what a certain concept means for them. The road map to success is marked very clearly, with techniques proven to work in the real world.

I highly recommend Riches in Niches: How to Make It Big in a Small Market by Susan Friedmann for anyone serious about becoming an expert in their chosen niche market. Instead of being a generalist facing powerful competition on all fronts, you can become the sole expert in a specific market. As global business becomes ever more competitive, turning yourself into the recognized niche expert becomes crucial to success.

Read Riches in Niches: How to Make It Big in a Small Market by Susan Friedmann and dominate your niche market as you accumulate wealth and status.

The Soccer Mom Myth by Michele Miller & Holly Buchanan - Book review

The Soccer Mom Myth

The New Reality of Marketing to Women

By: Michele Miller & Holly Buchanan

Published: March 10, 2008
ISBN-10: 1932226567
ISBN-13: 978-1932226560
Hardcover: 232 pages
Publisher: Wizard Academy Press

How to market to women demands a personalized approach, that goes beyond popular stereotypes, write Michele Miller and Holly Buchanan, in their important new book The Soccer Mom Myth: The New Reality of Marketing to Women. Women aren't responding to traditional advertising and marketing campaigns and strategies of considering women a niche market. Instead, a personalized marketing approach that speaks to women as individuals is essential to success.

Michele Miller (photo left) and Holly Buchanan not only describe why it's important to market to women as individuals, but they also show the reader how to speak to women with an appropriate message. Citing statistics that demonstrate the dominance of women as buying decision makers both online and offline, the authors emphasize the critical importance of understanding women and their buying motives.

Women don't consider themselves part of a stereotypical group like the myth of soccer moms in the title. As a result, marketers are forced to consider women as individuals with different needs and desires. Failure to make that leap to speaking to women on a personal level will doom a company or e-commerce website to disaster. There is much more to this important book than simply a discussion of the importance of the growing force of women as purchase decision makers.

Holly Buchanan (photo left) and Michele Miller go beyond the why of marketing to women, and demonstrate how to conduct your marketing efforts to women more successfully. They describe how to personalize your message to empower the female consumer, that takes into account societal and gender differences, between men and women.

The authors take a holistic approach to marketing, that considers the individual's needs, within the larger context of marketing language, buyer psychology, and consumer personae. From practical tips on blogging and designing a female friendly website to conducting more insightful market research, the book is a handbook for successful marketing to women.

For me, the power of the book is its practical application of theory and research tot the real world of marketing to women. Instead of only concerning themselves with why the female market is dominant and growing, the authors expect the reader to understand that fact from the beginning of the book. After the importance of the female consumer is established, the writers get down to the business of showing the reader how to market to women in an effective and personal way.

I highly recommend The Soccer Mom Myth: The New Reality of Marketing to Women by Michele Miller and Holly Buchanan, for any business people who are serious about creating a marketing message, that speaks directly to the individual female consumer. Instead, the book is a powerful step by step textbook for marketing to women the right way.

Read The Soccer Mom Myth: The New Reality of Marketing to Women by Michele Miller and Holly Buchanan and you will never listen to marketing myths about women again.

Bounce! by Barry J. Moltz - Book review

Bounce!

Failure, Resiliency, and Confidence to Achieve Your Next Great Success

By: Barry J. Moltz

Published: Jan 28, 2008
ISBN: 9780470224083
Format: Hardcover, 242pp
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons Inc

This is not another book about coming back from failure, writes Barry Moltz in his empowering new book Bounce!: Failure, Resiliency, and Confidence to Achieve Your Next Great Success.Instead, the book is about developing the confidence and resiliency to prepare for both the successes and the failures, in your business and in life.

Barry Moltz discusses his failures in business openly and honestly. He describes how the conventional wisdom of learning from failure is not the best approach to understanding business setbacks. For the author, the standard linear models of business success and failure teach the wrong lessons. Instead of thinking in straight lines, success and failure should be thought of as cycles. No one's career or life experience travels in a straight line, as outcomes may be perceived in different ways, depending upon different ideas of what constitutes success.

Business fortunes ebb and flow, take circular and meandering paths, and even at times reach dead ends. Not every business failure teaches lessons that can be applied like down payments to future success. Very often, business collapse teaches nothing, and that insight is an important step toward building confidence. Instead of focus on outward events, it is more important to accept and recognize events for their effect on the individual. Without the resilience to bounce from success or from failure, the person lacks perspective on what is important in life.

For Barry Moltz )photo left), the traditional rags to riches, rich to even more rich, and the comeback from setbacks archetypes are myths that fail to understand the randomness, chaos theory, and special timing of events. All too often, ego and shame stand in the way of developing the humility to accept that not everything is under the entrepreneur's control.

Seeking and understanding new ways for determining success can move a person, from a sense of failure, toward a greater understanding of personal achievement. What appears as failure from one direction, can be considered a tremendous success from another viewpoint. Thinking only in a false dichotomy of success and failure outcomes leads nowhere, and prevents developing an effective decision making process.

For me, the power of the book is the personal empowerment that results from understanding success and failure as two sides of the same coin. Instead of viewing them as the only two possible outcomes, the author suggests that both are part of the repeating cycle of a business. The establishment of a process for decision making builds the confidence and humility to bounce from point to point. The book teaches the importance of creating your brand of success. With the redefining of success in your own terms, you become ready to embrace success and failure as they come, and as simply parts of the process.

I highly recommend Bounce!: Failure, Resiliency, and Confidence to Achieve Your Next Great Success by Barry Moltz for anyone seeking a greater understanding of success and failure in business. Instead of offering conventional wisdom, the author challenges the reader to redefine success in your own terms, resulting in greater confidence, resilience to change, and the ability to bounce.

Read Bounce!: Failure, Resiliency, and Confidence to Achieve Your Next Great Success by Barry Moltz and learn to bounce from both success and failure to even greater personal success in your own life.

Trevor Gay: Simplicity & Adding Meaning To Work - Blog Business Success Radio

BlogTalkRadio.com

Blogger Trevor Gay, author of Simplicity is the Key, describes how to create a more people friendly workplace by removing obvious barriers and replacing them with true meaning through simplicity to build your business and career success.

Trevor Gay is my internet radio show guest on Blog Business Success; hosted live on Blog Talk Radio.

The show airs live on Thursday, March 6, at 8:00 pm Eastern Time; 5:00 pm Pacific Time.

Blogger Trevor Gay, author of Simplicity is the Key, describes how to create a more people friendly workplace by removing obvious barriers and replacing them with true meaning through simplicity. You will learn:

* How to show front line employees how they are truly valued

* The right, and surprising, way to gain power in the organization

* Discover the power of storytelling for more effective leadership and management

* Why using plain language in communication is better than jargon or buzzwords

Trevor Gay (photo left) has an obsession about making things simpler in management and leadership. Following a 35 year career in senior management in the UK National Health Service (NHS) – the third largest employer in the world after the Chinese Army and Indian Railways - Trevor left the ‘security blanket’ of the NHS in 2005 to become a freelance consultant, speaker and writer on management and leadership. Trevor believes management and leadership is simple. He argues it is we human beings that make things complex in management and business.

He has written four books in the last three years – the best known being Simplicity is the Key and you can see more about what he does by going to his, needless to say, very simple website known as Simplicity.

Although Trevor has the academic management qualifications he prefers to talk subjectively, using metaphors anecdotes and stories to illustrate his beliefs. Since leaving the NHS Trevor has been in great demand to talk and spread the word about simplicity and he was recently interviewed on Fox Business Network TV in a live link up to the United States from London, England.

Trevor Gay blogs at Simplicity Blog.
